Meet The Staff

Opie Alexander

During the Covid-19 shutdown, Opie, a young puppy, displayed an exceptional talent for finding missing items. Playing "find it" games to keep his young mind engaged, his owner recognized Opie's exceptional scent detection abilities and after the stay-at-home order was lifted, decided to work with a K-9 Police Dog trainer and later with a local pet trainer to fine-tune his detection abilities.

After two years of intensive training, Opie has become a skilled trailing dog. His passion for the search inspired his human partner to establish CdE Scent Detection Dogs. The CdE part of the name pays tribute to Opie's breed. He is a Cirneco dell'Etna, which is originally from Sicily and bred to hunt small game in the mountains of Mt. Etna.

Opal

Opal is a skilled pet detective, just like her cousin Opie (their mothers are sisters). Despite being three years younger, she is equally capable of finding missing pets.

Her work ethic is impressive, learning quickly. During one training session she understood that pushing at something with her paw was the signal to open. Now at feeding time this sassy girl demands the food container be opened with repeated and very insistent slaps of her paw.

Opal enjoys participating in dog sports to stay in shape, reaching speeds of over 26 mph.

Watson

Meet Watson, a rescue dog from Texas who is undergoing training to become a CdE Scent Detection Dog.

With his nose always on the ground, Watson is a skilled hunter who loves to run. Like Opal, he's quite fast, having been clocked at an impressive speed of 24.88 mph!

While young Watson's pedigree is undetermined, he is known around the house as a Cirneco want-a-be.
