Our Services

1

Losing a pet can be a stressful experience, but our team of experts is here to assist you. We will work with you to gather details about your missing pet, such as where and when they were last seen, and what may have caused their disappearance.

Additionally, we will ask about your pet's behavior and personality to help identify potential search areas. Based on your responses, we will create a strategic search plan for you to follow.

2

Our team is ready to help by visiting the location where the pet was last seen and assisting with handing out flyers, posting signs, and conducting "intersection alerts".

We can also provide strategy planning based on sightings, such as setting up feeding stations, humane traps, or using decoy dogs.

Additionally, CdE Scent Detection Dogs can assist in the creation of flyers, yard signs, monitoring missing pet social media sites, and poster placement, if needed.

You should have a full understanding of How a K9 Search Team Works before making a decision to hire one to assist in finding your lost pet.

CdE Scent Detection Dogs are trained to find missing pets by following the lost animal's scent. Every animal has its own unique odor or smell.

We do not promise our team will walk-up and find your missing pet. In fact, very few recoveries happen this way. Understand that weather, wind, and traffic conditions can have an affect on a scent trail. Under optimal  conditions a trained trailing dog is capable of following a scent that is up to two weeks old.

When to use a search dog:

  • When time is of the essence - need to locate a young pet, old pet, a pet on medication, a sick or injured pet or your pet is dragging a leash, chain or rope that could get caught on something.

  • If you live in a rural area and there have been no sightings of your pet or you need help in determining what direction your pet went from a reported sighting.

  • There has been a sighting reported but you aren't sure it is your pet. A scent detection dog can help verify if it is your pet by checking for your pet's scent.

  • If your pet was lost from a location away from home.

When a search dog is NOT needed:

  • If there has been multiple sightings in one area. Best to get capture and trapping assistance.

  • If you know your pet has been stolen or picked up by a stranger.

  • If you can't afford to hire a search team - Don't give up hope, use your money for other known search methods. Flyers, posters, and yard signs. Don't forget to post on Social Media - it's FREE!

CdE Scent Detection Dogs provides various ways to assist in finding missing pets, but it cannot guarantee that its services will lead to the recovery of your pet. Many factors can impact scent trails and the effectiveness of common recovery methods, such as

humane traps and feeding stations.

However, we promise to offer you guidance on proven strategies and techniques that are tailored to your specific lost pet situation, which can improve the likelihood of a joyful reunion.

Lost Dog Tips
  1. Search the Area: Dogs often stay close to where they were lost, especially if they're scared or disoriented.

  2. Notify Neighbors and Local Businesses: Inform neighbors, local businesses, and anyone you encounter while searching.

  3. Use Social Media: Post a clear photo of your dog along with details of where and when they went missing on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Nextdoor. Many communities have local lost and found pet groups where you can share information.

  4. Contact Animal Shelters and Veterinary Clinics: Call and visit nearby animal shelters and veterinary clinics. Provide them with a description of your dog and your contact information in case your dog is brought in.

  5. Create Flyers: Make eye-catching flyers with a clear photo of your dog, your contact information, and details about when and where they were last seen. Distribute these flyers in the area where your dog went missing, including at local parks, pet stores, and community bulletin boards.

  6. Stay Positive and Persistent: It's important to remain hopeful and continue searching diligently. Dogs can sometimes be found days or even weeks after they go missing.

Lost Cat Tips
  1. Search Nearby: Begin by thoroughly searching your home, including closets, cabinets, basements, and any other areas where your cat might hide.

  2. Check Outdoor Areas: Cats are known for exploring outdoor areas, so search your yard, garden, and any nearby hiding spots such as bushes, under decks, or in sheds.

  3. Call Out: Consider using a familiar sound that your cat associates with positive experiences, such as shaking a treat container or making a distinctive noise.

  4. Use Social Media: Share information about your lost cat on social media platforms. Include a clear photo of your cat, details about when and where they went missing, and your contact information.

  5. Distribute Flyers: Create and distribute flyers with your cat's photo, a description, and your contact information. Post these flyers in your neighborhood, at local businesses, veterinary clinics, animal shelters, and community bulletin boards.

  6. Search During Quiet Times: Cats are more likely to come out of hiding during quiet times, such as early morning or late evening.
